How to Have More Focus: Develop your Mindset

Staying focused in our world today can be difficult. You are now surrounded by infinite distractions in your environment and you have become easily guided away from focusing on what matters most, your success. You need to bring your mind back to focus on what it is you want to accomplish in your life.

This technological world that you have become accustomed to has helped you develop so many skills in your life. You have learned to multi-task with ease and accomplish many tasks in very short amounts of time. While multi-tasking is a great skill to have, it has also turned you away from being able to focus on the most important goals in your life.

Bring back your focus by developing your mindset to concentrate a single task at a time. 

Concentrate on your goal and think about what steps you need to take to get closer to achieving that goal. Put your phone aside, turn off the TV, and go to a quiet and comfortable place where you can concentrate on your task. Before you begin your task, take a moment of silence for yourself. Close your eyes, and breathe in deeply and clear your mind of all distractions. Focus on the air that you breathe – this will help you concentrate. Some find it helpful to turn on some music they like. It doesn’t have to be classical music, or smooth jazz (unless your into that) – just turn on something you enjoy listening to and let it play in the background as you focus on your task. Grab a large glass or bottle of water and keep it by your side as you complete your work. Take an occasional break every few minutes, and take another minute to breathe deeply. Drink your water and stay hydrated. Water is a key nutrient that will help you concentrate. You are now focused and in the zone. Again, don’t let distractions from your phone, social media, tv, friends or anything get in the way of your focus. Keep on hustling through your work while you are focused and once your mind becomes slightly fatigued, stop.

Your focus comes from your mindset. Training your mind to stay focused is like going to the gym to get more fit. Your focus is a muscle and you need to develop it with the proper techniques. Practice these daily habits that will help your brain grow more focused. Eventually with this practice and proper techniques, your focus will come naturally and you will be able to accomplish your goals and become more successful.
